KHTS AM-1220: Keeping Kellar on Council 'Critical'
We’ve been a Bob Kellar fan for many years, going back to the days before he was a City councilmember, when he skillfully led the merger of the Canyon Country Chamber of Commerce with the Santa Clarita Chamber. As a City Councilman, Bob has fought the tough battles, made his own decisions, even when it hasn’t always been in his best political interest to do so, and has been a key independent voice on the current Council. Bob has been a strong supporter of small, local businesses. We were thrilled when Bob decided to seek another term. Keeping Bob on the Council and maintaining a balance is critical for the continued successful management of our City.

Signal Newspaper 'Strongly Endorses' Kellar
The Signal strongly endorses Bob Kellar for re-election. Kellar’s history and reputation for engaging the city’s citizens at countless community events throughout the year, not just election time, has been impressive and noteworthy. He is not afraid to stick to his views and be on the short end of a 4-1 vote or stand against the local political establishment when he takes issue with their positions or antics. We support his goals as presented to The Signal Editorial Board: A demand for a speedier cleanup of Whittaker-Bermite without risking any city liability; support for a stronger, job-generating business community; partnerships with businesses to stimulate the Canyon Country business community; and a successful end to the ongoing battle of keeping a Cemex mega-mine out of the Santa Clarita Valley. Kellar, who has served on the council since 2000, has drawn some negative attention over a loan he received that prompted an investigation by the Fair Political Practices Commission. We are satisfied that Kellar not only reported the transaction on the required document, but also contacted the FPPC for direction in how to report it. Kellar is a solid choice for re-election.
Congress of Republicans Endorses Kellar
All five candidates for Santa Clarita City Council took to the stage at the Repertory East Playhouse to participate in a City Council Candidates Roundtable Discussion on Monday, Feb. 27. Three days later, during the SCV Congress of Republicans' regularly scheduled meeting, the board of directors voted unanimously to endorse Kellar's bid for re-election. The board did not endorse any other candidate, since none attained the two-thirds majority vote required for endorsement.

Kellar Participates in 'Read Across America'
Students, teachers and community leaders sporting red-and-white hats read their favorite books aloud as part of Read Across America Day. At Fair Oaks Ranch Community School, the event has become a tradition as more than two dozen volunteers -- including Santa Clarita City Council members, FBI agents and educators -- visited classrooms to read Dr. Seuss stories to elementary school students.
A Sharp View: Kellar, An American Original
As mayor of Santa Clarita in 2004 and 2008, one of Bob Kellar’s favorite innovations was a call-in show that he offered called “Coffee with the Mayor.” Since that time when he was first elected to the Santa Clarita City Council in April of 2000, so much has changed in Santa Clarita that we clearly need a coffee with someone every month to keep up with it all. Fortunately, I was recently able to have a kind of coffee with Bob Kellar, in which I was able to ask him some of the questions that have been most concerning me about my old home in the City of Santa Clarita.

SCV Chamber Endorses Kellar for Re-Election
The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce board on Feb. 21 endorsed incumbents Bob Kellar and Laurie Ender in the race for Santa Clarita City Council on April 10.
“Bob Kellar and Laurie Ender have been very supportive of the business community in the entire Santa Clarita Valley during their tenure on the City Council,” Chamber Board of Directors Chairman Chris Angelo said in a statement.
“The city has done a fantastic job with the fight to keep the enterprise zones and pursue economic development programs. Laurie and Bob have been pro business and pro jobs.
“They deserve all of our support for election to the City Council.”
